Paquito D’Rivera
Winner of 17 Grammys and Latin Grammy Awards, saxophonist, clarinetist, composer and writer, Paquito D’Rivera is a celebrated interpreter of jazz and classical music, Brazilian music, rumba, and tango. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has been honored with the National Medal of Arts and named an NEA Jazz Master, where he was described as “the consummate multinational ambassador, creating and promoting a cross-culture of music that moves effortlessly among jazz, Latin, and Mozart.” D’Rivera makes his Oberlin debut alongside pianist Alex Brown in a program that showcases his extraordinary artistry and music versatility.
